Antique cabinet cards have always fascinated me. As a child, I would visit my great grandmother's house and meander around the beautiful antique vases, tassled doorways and ornate Victorian funiture before I would finally give in to the intrigue of her cabinet card photos, all of them calling to me from their perch. Whether old or young, the expressions of the people in these photos were stoic, unexpected and even scary to me. As I grew older, I forgot about the cabinet cards until one day when I happened upon a few in an antique store. As I started to go through them one by one, I got the idea to turn them into works of art! No longer lonesome, dusty and forgotten, many have become some very interesting pop culture characters. These pieces are a lot of work but much fun to create so there's more to come.
